Nick Shirley Exposes Minnesota's $Billion Somali Mega-Fraud

He saw one single kid in the 15 or so Somali "child care" operations he went to. No sign whatsoever of anything like the hundreds of kids they're getting government money for. 40 apparently fake medical businesses in two connected buildings...all apparently run by Somalis. No patients seen The businesses called the cops to chase Shirley off for trespassing. One "child care center" busted for fraud merely opened up under a different name the next day. MN Democrat refuses to acknowledge the problem, dismisses it with a tu quoque: There's fraud in other places like Medicare and you know who runs Medicare?? DONALD TRUMP!!!

Nick Shirley Exposes $$Multi-Million Somali Child Care Grift in MN; Redditors are Pissed...

...at Shirley.
At least this particular sub is one of the few that's not completely dominated by crazy lefties (but I repeat myself).
As one commentor notes: nothing pisses off redditors more than exposing leftist BS...

Reddit really is a leftist cesspool now. It's downright hard to believe how stupid and delusional the average Reddit commenter is today. Whereas Reddit used to make people smarter and funnier, now it's mostly a humongous, intensely retarded leftist echo chamber.
I honestly can't believe how stupid and delusional the place is now.

The Woke Progressive Left is the King of Disinformation

Crazy thing is, the same faction that's weaponized the term 'disinformation' against its opponents is the most prolific producer of disinformation....
Of course if we count Christianity as part of the right (which is plausible but not quite right), we could use the virgin birth to balance out men get pregnant...but I'm honestly not sure how to figure religion into the calculations.

What's Up With This "Trump-Class" Battleship Business?

If I had to guess:
The Navy and the Air Force are often seen as competing for resources. (I dunno whether that's really so true, but that's the scuttlebutt that people like me hear).
The USAF scored when it got funding for the NGAD/F-47; USN's F/A-XX seems to be fading away.
Add to this the death of the Constellation-class frigate.
Now, the NGAD program apparently chose the designation 'F-47' in order to flatter Trump.
There's also been loose talk floating around for a while about battleships--though mostly in order to explain why they aren't a good idea. (Hint: big naval battles don't happen at distances that can be covered by guns anymore. And, of course, haven't since early in WWII.)
Anyhoo:
One way to look at this:
The "Trump-class" "battleship" is really just a big destroyer. A kind of up-sized Arleigh Burke or Ticonderoga. i.e. a cruiser. Or a big cruiser. It's got a bunch of missiles (including space for hypersonics) and some 5" guns...and...allegedly...a railgun. So kinda Zumwalt-y. Which could easily be replaced by more VLSs...or whatever. So again: kinda Zumwalt-y...

This whole thing seems like a big embarrassment for the Navy...and the nation. You thought sticking Trump's name on the Kennedy center was bad? You thought (allegedly) renaming the future iteration of Enterprise the Musk was embarrassing...?

Well...now we've got the Trump-class "battleships"...and the "golden fleet"...

Look, for all I know this is a good idea with a dumb name and a thin public rationale.
But it doesn't sound good...

Lemme just note:
As embarrassing as Trump can be, at least his policies tend to be reasonably sound substantively. As goofy as all this stuff sounds, it's all--again, substantively speaking--vastly better than what the Democrats would be doing--advancing DEI, transing children, brainwashing bureaucrats, students and employees with "gender" pseudoscience and CRT pseudo(social)science, pumping up inflation by wasting money on climate hysteria and NGO funding that's more-or-less pumped straight into Democrat coffers, piling more regulation on businesses, taxing us more, raising gas prices...
Trump's embarrassing.
The Democrats are worse.

I'm really just sick to death of Trump. And I very much wish he would get tired of the job and turn it over to Vance--and not merely because that would increase the odds of victory in '28...
But our options remain what they basically were in 2018: an insane, woke-addled Democrat party, and an embarrassing-and-kooky-but-basically-more-or-less-sane Republican party...
At some point the Pubs will almost certainly again become the crazier of the two options--but, so far as I can tell, that hasn't happened yet.
And yet another sign that it's not likely to happen soon is that the Dems are hiding their own report about why they lost in '24.
And, until they can admit that they lost because they're batshit crazy, it's unlikely that they'll start to move significantly back toward centrist sanity.

[Addendum:
I thought I just misunderstood...but no...apparently it's not nuclear. Which seems odd...but maybe supports the idea that it's really more of a big cruiser/destroyer.
And/or:
Maybe the Navy plans to scale this thing down once you-know-who is gone.]

TRUMP-CLASS BATTLESHIP FIRST LOOK

HERE COME THE TRUMP-CLASS BATTLESHIPS

Not even making this up.
Sayeth the POTUSest, quoted in the Navy Times:
“The future Trump class battleship, the USS Defiant, will be the largest, deadliest and most versatile — and best looking warship — anywhere on the world’s oceans.”
Get Space Force in on this and do Space Battleship Missouri...
Next up: THE BIGGEST AND MOST GOLDEN MUSKET OF ALL TIMEZ!!!!
Now...I want to see a new generation of battleships as much as any red-blooded American boy does...but, honestly, this strikes me as...well..a little Hitlerian--interfering with military planners in this way. Recall Herr H's attempts, e.g., to turn the Me 262 into a bomber... This sounds like the kind of thing someone who didn't know anything about what he is doing would do...
Look, I'm an interested amateur, obviously...but...as I understand it...among our needs are:
  • The F/A-XX (or similar) 6th Gen fighter
  • A new frigate class (the Constellation class is out; the FF(X) is in)
  • A way to re-arm VLS at sea
  • Unmanned underwater drones
  • More personnel
  • More ship-building capacity
New battleships sound cool...but I'm under the impression that they aren't practical. And I'd worry that they'll clog up berths in Newport News that could be used to produce the FF(X)...
But, as usual: what do I know?

How to Help Out ICE

I looked into working for ICE.
Not gonna work, for several reasons, including:
(a) Looks like I'm too old.
(Now...I'm in better shape than a lot of ICE agents I've seen in the videos...but...whatevs).
(b) It'd be a big pay cut.
Which no can do.
Anyway.
So how can people who care about the nation, but can't go to work as an ICE agent, help out?
Two ideas, the first of which I'm already doing:
[i] Get one of the (many) ICE alert apps and send out false alerts.
That I'm already doing.
But here's something ICE would need to organize:
[ii] Decoy ICE units.
In places with a lot of ICE activity, local lefties are organizing into mobs that track and follow ICE units, blowing whistles and shrieking in order to warn the murderers, rapists and ped0s that they are in danger of being arrested and deported. The moonbat mobs also assault agents in whatever ways they think they can get away with (throwing chunks of ice, bottles, rocks, etc. at them).
Now.
I think ICE ought to get a bunch of people like me to work as decoy units. We'd get out there first in places rife with leftards--e.g. Minneapolis--and draw the shrieking packs of moonbats to us so that it's easier for the real ICE units to operate freely.
Hell, I'd do that for free, man.
The delicious tears of the moonbats would be payment enough.

THAT'S MY PURSE I DON'T KNOW YOU

T-SPLY: Repulsive Leftists

Why are leftists so repulsive?
Even if I didn't know what was at issue, their repulsiveness would make me side with just about whoever they were opposing.
Stupidity combined with a superior attitude...very punchable:

The Left Refuses to Admit that its Terrible No Good Very Bad Ideas Had Anything to do with their Losing the 2024 Election

Good: let 'em stick with open borders, discrimination against whites and transing kids.

OTOH: Bad.
Basically, no matter how bad their ideas are, eventually they'll win again...

The P-51's Three Sources of Thrust

????:

We Can't Say with Confidence Who Won Georgia in 2020

I'm by no means one of those conservatives who insists that we know that the 2020 election was stolen...but the blue-team line that it was "the most secure election in history" (or whatever that babbling point was they used to emit all the time)...just absurd.
Quite a bit of fishy shit went down in 2020.
   And now this:

Fetterman: Administration's Drug Boat Strikes Not Routine; Based on "Extensive Evidence"

I've worried a lot less about these since I found out that they have JAGs on hand advising.

The Trump-Kennedy Center?

WTAF?

Delusions of grandeur.

Can you even? Because I sure as hell can't.

Kinda funny that a guy mentioned in the story and I had basically the same thought in basically the same terms:
What next? The Trump-Lincoln Memorial?

Or maybe:
The Donald J. Trump Truth Social - Lincoln Memorial Brought To You By $Trumpcoin...

A candidate for Trump's second term in a nutshell:
On the same day he is largely responsible for:
[a] An embarrassing, self-aggrandizing, symbolic act with no real consequences.
[b] Outlawing the pseudoscientific, ideological medical mutilation of American children.

Symbolic cringe + a profound, perhaps history-altering effort to move the nation away from a bit of abject madness emanating from the left.
See, you can vote for the other guys and avoid the cringe...by supporting the flat-out madness that reigns there now.
A bit like immigration: you can avoid the carefully-edited video clips of illegal aliens shrieking and crying when arrested...and all you gotta do is embrace open borders and the collapse of the USA...

Finally:
I really know nothing about this. Trump did raise money to renovate the Kennedy Center after what has been allegedly a long decline. It's possible that the name-change is justified. I just doubt it. And I think that a better man wouldn't even ask for such a thing...or so it seems to me, at least in my ignorance.

Trump Admin Moves to Ban "Transgender" Medical Mutilation of Minors

I'm getting sick of Trump...but his policies are, overall, very good.
And this is fantastic news.
If Biden or Harris were President--or, for that matter, any other Dem--we'd be going in the opposite direction.

More Crazy Brown Stuff: Did the University Disable Some CCTV at Urging of Lefties to Thwart ICE?

Unlikely, I say.
But something's rotten in Providence, alright...or so it seems.
They apparently hadn't even started to interview eyewitnesses yesterday--or so I read.
And they seem to be cagey about a lot of things.
Now, look:
I saw a partial map showing webcam fields of view. The building in which the murders took place didn't have any. Apparently it's old. People are freaking out about the fact that ZOMG SOME PARTS OF CAMPUS ARE NOT UNDER CONSTANT VIDEO SURVEILLANCE!!!111
What??
Some people write as if universities are under some obvious obligation to surveil all students 24/7. What can these people possibly be thinking?
My reaction: bad luck that the killer fell between these cracks.
Now:
Apparently some far lefty group demanded that the university shut down its cameras because student protestors have a right to privacy and can't be photographed. Here they claimed SCOTUS had ruled this...but the link just went to another lefty screed by the same group. (Hint: there's no way that SCOTUS ruled that. If they're protesting in public, they have no reasonable expectation of privacy.) But: they also mention thwarting ICE.
Now:
If Brown did disable cameras that would have caught the shooter, and they did do it at the urging of leftist lunatics...and especially if they did it in part to thwart ICE...then that's going to be a PR nightmare for them. And they deserve it. They deserve to pay the price for allowing themselves to be shoved around by lefty lunatics and their pet causes.
But: unless Providence is a notably violent place (note: I have no idea whether it is or not), or they have some other reason to think that it was important to have CCTV everywhere...I really don't see that the university actually deserves a lot of blame for this.
But I haven't thought about this much.

Rove: Trump is Setting Up a Nasty Midterm Loss

Yup.
Which, in a way, isn't a bad thing. The House Republicans refuse to restrain him. Crazy as the House Dems are, I think there's a good chance that it'll be better to have countervailing crazy.
I've always expected a midterm loss. Trump's such a train wreck that it's always--seems to me--been in the cards. He can't even appeal to enough centrists when he's on the 80 side of a wide array of 80-20 issues.
Seems to me the most important thing before that time: pass Hagerty's Equal Representation Act, which prevents illegal aliens from being counted toward Congressional representation. One of the Democrats' motives for flooding the country with illegals is that this pumps up their numbers in the House. It's insane that they count in this way. We can't allow this incentive to remain.
But, anyhoo: yeah...my own Trump fatigue is off the charts. As insane as the Democrats (still) are...I'm kinda ok with the looming midterm debacle.

Bessent: Deportations Bringing Rents Down for Working Americans

Indeed, how could they not?

I voted for this.

Jacob Savage: The Lost Generation (on the Blatant Discrimination Against White Men Wrought by DEI etc.)

Definitely worth a read.
One thing he gets wrong, though:
He throws the obligatory elbows at Boomers and Gen Xers, basically saying that white dudes of those generations got theirs, and then threw his generation of white dudes to the wolves...
...which may have been true in Hollywood or whatever.
But in academia, the blatant demographic preferences kicked in just as I was hitting the job market in the early '90s. I'm not whining; just statin' facts.
I've fought this shit my whole career--sometimes effectively, sometimes not. I'm still fighting it now. I'll be fighting it until I retire or die--because if you think it's gone, you're delusional. In academia, anyway.
   My standard line:
   DEI wasn't the main problem.
DEI was--and still is*--just one (very successful and effective) tool of the left.
But the problem is the left itself.
It runs academia, and, though it's cowering right now, it's seething, too. It'll be back as soon as the Dems come back to power. In fact, it'll start emerging again in VA to some extent as soon as Spanberger et al. are sworn in.
   Anyway.

* I was in a big meeting just yesterday in which there was a reference to "equity" as a goal. (In fact, it was in a context something like something something...and, of course, equity... I couldn't figure out what exactly was being said, so couldn't really challenge it.)

"Decolonizing Play Therapy"

Can you believe that I'm not making this up?:

Rob Reiner and Wife Murdered

I know of Mr. Riener from "All in the Family" when I was a kid...but most notably from "The Princess Bride" and "This is Spinal Tap"...which (especially the former) are among my favorite flicks.
I've made fun of his political takes in the past, but needless to say all that nonsense goes out the window now. What trivia.
Such a horrible thing--what could be worse than being murdered alongside your wife? Well, I suppose, for it to have been at the hand of your own son--which is, I understand, what happened.
There are such horrors in the world.

Charles C. W. Cooke: Europe: If NPR Ran a Continent

Pretty right, I say.
I've always been very committed to our ties to Europe...but a friend pointed out recently that Europe is basically the American left...but worse...

Matthew J. Memoli and The Great Jay Bhattacharya: How We Cured DEI at the NIH

What a turnaround from the insanity of 2020...

Bhattacharya, IMO, more than makes up for RFKj...but really only time will tell about that.

One thing to keep firmly in mind: the Democrats have become the party of Lysenkoism. Do you want your tax dollars to go toward R&D to improve the health and extend the lives of you and yours--and, for that matter, not yours? Or do you want them to fund leftist, Lysenkoist, irrationalist, politicised--and, for that matter, racist--programs that suck time, energy and money away from such R&D?
Over the course of the next few years or decades, people will actually die because of DEI. Because the left--including the Democrats--decided that chasing their totalitarian dreams was more important than medical science, untold millions of dollars were siphoned away from medical research. Every dollar, every minute, every compute cycle, spent on DEI was a dollar or a minute or a compute cycle not spent on medical science. Many of us will just barely fail to survive medical problems over the next decade or so who would have survived if the left had not hijacked so much of medical science for its political ends. If the Biden administration had taken the untold $millions wasted on politics--illiberal politics, to boot--and actually spent them on the "cancer moonshot" something notable might actually have been accomplished...but, of course, that's not what happened...

Was the Brown Shooting (a) Antisemitic and (b) Perpetrated by a Muslim?

I don't know.
  • Apparently it targeted a study session for a class taught by a Jew with Israeli ties.
  • The shooter is alleged by some to have yelled "Allahu Akbar"
But perhaps worst of all:
  • The shooter is alleged by some to be Muslim/Middle-Eastern...but was misleadingly described as "Asian" by the school.*
Now, in the U.S., nobody calls e.g. Pakistanis "Asian." So, even assuming that's what's going on here, it's bullshit.
Note: I don't know any of this stuff--it's just being flung around. It's all just about as likely to be false as true.
However, IF this information is, in fact, being suppressed/distorted, there should be hell to pay.

Wikipedia Bias: Locks Page Referring to Israeli Hostage-Rescue Mission as "Massacre"

link

Let me again direct your attention to my favorite example of Wokepedian bias built right into the title of an entry:

Gamergate (Harassment Campaign)

Whoa, whoa, whoa!
Wokepedia has changed the title to just Gamergate!
But before you get all excited, they seem to have made the first sentence of the entry even more laughably counterfactual:
Gamergate or GamerGate (GG)[1] was a loosely organized misogynistic online harassment campaign motivated by a right-wing backlash against feminism, diversity, and progressivism in video game culture.
LOLOLOLOL

Gamergate was, of course, a backlash against an early expression of woke totalitarian idiocy--specifically, in videogames journalism... There may have been some online harassment of some of the women involved--it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Obviously: that's bad. But Gamergate was not a "misogynistic online harassment campaign." That's just a lie.
But there's really no surprise above--opposition to the woketarian cult is always characterized by that cult as some kind of bigotry... Accusations of bigotry basically being the only kind of argument the woketarians know how to deploy.

But to the point at hand:
Though I know a lot about Gamergate, I don't know anything about the Nuseirat mission. Here's the Wokepedia entry. The numbers for dead and wounded civilians are all from the Gaza Health Ministry...ergo they're completely unreliable. But I'm not actually familiar with this event, so I can't really say anything about it.

Indiana Republicans Refuse to Pass Trump's Gerrymandering Scheme

It's important to stop the blue team right now...but there's a limit to what we should be willing to do.
I swung over toward the play hardball side of the argument there for awhile...but I dunno...
OTOH, I'm tempted by the argument that, so long as illegal aliens count toward Congressional representation, just about all measures are warranted to counter that lunacy...

Don't Let the National Screen Door Bang You on the Ass on the Way Out

Sadly, almost all of these people...mostly women...are just full of shit.
It's a way of expressing: Oh boo hoo look at me, I am so good yet so victimized...
It's just a performance.
Which is too bad.
This would be a much better country if lots of them would leave:
As several commenters point out:
Emigrating seems to be difficult (according to her) because any other country worth moving to has immigration restrictions. And this woman even seems to be respecting them. Which is odd. Because she claims to be leaving because the administration seeks to enforce our immigration laws...

White Dudes Can't Like Spider Man Because It is Impossible for White Dudes to Struggle

Think about the complex interplay of:
(a) Natural stupidity
(b) Pseudo-academic pseudo-thought
and
(c) Quasi-religious ideological derangement
and, well, (d) racism
...that make bullshit like this not only possible, but actually fairly common:

The Great Roland Fryer: The Economics of Immigration

The optimum policy is credible enforcement of entry rules and integration of those already here.

I'm a huge Fryer fan.
Though, unfortunately, I very much disagree with this piece.
To his credit, he considers a lot of important factors that most on the left (note: he's not on the left, so far as I can tell) refuse to consider.
He's careful to look mainly at metastudies about e.g. the effect of illegal immigration on crime--the left tends to rely on the fact that they control the research, so they can always collect studies that support any of their positions. However, of course, and among other things, there's a tendency among illegal aliens to not report crimes--which, since most crime is intramural, tends to be committed by other illegals. Now, I'll bet Fryer's studies try to control for that...it's not the kind of thing he would overlook. But that, combined with the fact that the left does control research, and so tends to pump out studies "supporting" their positions...makes me skeptical.
Just to name one thing.
But I'm sure he has a response tot hat.
Anyway.
You can't address every point in an op-ed, and this one is already dense/tightly-argued. But more attention needs to be given to the effect of illegal entry on demographics. Again, he does address this...but from an economic perspective that's not particularly relevant. Given the mass illegal entry into the country effected by the last Democrat administration--and the open borders policy promoted by the vanguard of the left--what we're talking about here is national, cultural, and demographic survival. The question "can we assimilate all these illegals?" is just not relevant. The question is: so we want the USA as we know it to survive...or do we want it to go away and be replaced by some generic, multicultural shithole...or some limp, craptastic, leftist European-style successor to a liberal democracy?
Er...
Well, that intemperate paragraph is out of place against the backdrop of Fryer's temperate, measured, empirical argument.
I'll have to let his argument sit for awhile.
But one last--and less-intemperate--point:
Part of what the administration is doing is making a point. Making a point to the left, that is. And that point is: you cannot just let in a flood of illegals and then shriek when we enforce the law against them. If you let them in--as you already have, and as you have made clear that you will again--we will throw them out. And then their psychological pain is on your hands.
Fryer says that this is an inefficient policy.
That is almost certainly wrong.
Among other things, that presupposes roughly that this is a one- or two-round game. As if we were asking: well, what's the most efficient response to their move, this one-off event?
That's not true at all.
Inter alia, we're sending a signal to the other player: you will regret your despicable move. We will undo it, whatever the cost. And we'll keep doing that until you stop.
There are also meta-rules in dispute now--one question being: can the blue team break the rules and then change the enforcement rules just by shrieking and chanting and showing up in force to blow whistles and insist. Insist, that is, that we do as they say and enforce only the laws they agree with.
Well, I guess it's clear where I stand on this LOL...

Cinnabon Fired for Using Racial Slur, Flipping off Customers

Forced to bet money, I'd bet that the customers did something to provoke Wilsey. It's common practice on the left to produce videos truncated to leave out half the story. That describes basically all the anti-ICE videos on Reddit and BlueSky...
Look, even if Wilsey is a terrible person, who the hell is dumb enough to use this particular racial slur on camera? Surely she realizes that she'll be the object of unbridled public rage. Like the woman who caught the black kid in the park stealing her stuff, it's at least fairly likely that the people on the receiving end of the insults did something to provoke the reaction. You think Wilsey could hold down a service job of any kind if she were prone to such outbursts unprovoked? (It'd be informative to know how long she's worked in such jobs.)
The word in question--which everyone shudders now even to mention OH MY GOD!!111--is...yeah...an awfully ugly word. It's not the sort of word one ought to throw around lightly...

...Though...if, say, you get just up and stabbed by someone, you get to say anything you want to that person...
Now...this story sounds utterly nuts--as it's being portrayed in conservative media, anyway... Which is like so: guy A just up and stabbed guy B! Then guy B called guy A (note: guy A is black) "the n-word" dun dun dun... As a result of guy B saying THE TERRIBLE AND MAGICAL WORD, the judge just let guy A go, no jail, no fine, no suspended sentence, no nothing...
   Now...that would be insane.
So...did the couple in question do something to Ms. Wilsey that's not in the video? I'm gonna say: probably, yes. Did they do something that warranted her reaction? Well, I kinda doubt it...because, again, I think that's a pretty mean thing to say to people.
I do not think it's a magic word that summons the devil...or whatever the hell the left seems to think about it now. If you, say, stabbed me, not only am I going to beat you senseless, I'm going to say some very angry shit to you. Very. Angry. Anyone who thinks that there is any word the saying of which is worse than unjustifiably stabbing someone...is insane. Somebody stabs you, you have permission to say anything you want to him--and do just about anything you want. Certainly you have the right to use deadly force against him...so...ya see...you also have the right to use harsh language...
Though, it looks like the stabbing in question was some kind of complicated nonsense among bums--which is not the way it's being represented on the right.
Oh, sorry! Not bums! I meant "the unhoused"...
Or is there a new euphemism for bums this week that I haven't heard about?

Anyway, what happened in the Cinnabon case? I'm gonna guess that the couple did something pretty far out of line to Wilsey...and Wilsey disproportionately flipped out. Her actions are so over the top that it's pretty damn unlikely that they did anything deserving of such a tirade.

Somewhat funny coincidence: I happen to be re-reading Huck Finn right now. Much superior to Tom Sawyer, which I recently re-read again also.

I've always concluded that the agents knelt as a genuine expression of their political views. In which case I don't think firing them was obligatory, but--depending on the FBI's established procedures--may well be permissible.
They now apparently claim that they did it purely as a means to calm the crowd. If true, I'd guess that it was permissible. Though, to my mind, it's in the very rough vicinity of quieting a neo-Nazi mob with some "Heil Hitlers" or nazi salutes... Or soothing a Pantyfa mob by reciting some passages from Marx or Lenin. That is: perhaps prudent...but pretty gross.
Anyhoo, I don't know and am happy that it's the courts and not me deciding this one.

Nature Retracts Study Predicting Global Economic Collapse from Climate Change

Unfortunately, the consensus among the professional hysteriacs is: global economic devastation...but not, y'know, collapse...and the authors apparently plan to resubmit a version more in line with that consensus.
I don't believe such stuff anymore, of course.
But my understanding of this issue is very tenuous, to say the lest.
Mostly I'm just guessing on the basis of (a) the resemblance of this nonsense to other nonsense that I do understand and (b) the testimony of people like Judith Curry, Roger Pielke jr., and Bjorn Lomborg--who I trust.
So don't listen to me on this, obvs.

The Truth About the Second Strike on the Drug Boat Begins to Emerge

Well, one thing we do know: you pretty much can't believe anything negative the Washington Post says about the Trump administration.
Nevertheless, it does seem like a second drone strike was conducted, and it sounds like the intent was to kill the two survivors of the first strike. And they were out of the fight, clinging to wreckage.
But it now sounds as if Hegseth did not specifically order that strike, and not for the reason in question.
It still sounds like a war crime to me...or would...if this were a war...which...well...it doesn't sound like it is...
I guess I'm going to have to--finally, reluctantly--start taking this stuff seriously.
Let me go back to one of my very old gripes:
[1] Congress needs to start declaring wars again
[2] We need to terminate the AUMF of 2001.
Trump could still have ordered the initial strikes. But he couldn't just keep doing it without Congressional approval.

Minnesota's Massive, Mostly-Somali, Welfare Fraud Scandal

Agreed.
But it's not about people from "incompatible" cultures. It's about people from inferior, failed cultures and political systems who come here with defective beliefs, habits, sentiments and characters...and who often setting in enclaves where those things are less likely to be corrected via assimilation and more likely to generate inferior, criminal subcultures.

War Department: National Guardsmen in D.C. Now Armed

How the Formerly-Great American Political Science Review was Reduced to a Party Organ of Woketarian Feminism

This is what the left does: it takes over institutions and turns them into propaganda outlets and activist catspaws.
How many times are people going to see this happen before they all recognize that the PC left is the enemy of reason, of science, of liberalism...and, basically, of humanity.

Americans are Waking Up--Much of Higher Ed is Now a Scam

Absolutely agreed.
The infusion of DEI into curricula is just one aspect of the problem. The bigger problem is the rampant spread of the worst parts of recent Continental philosophy through the curriculum--Foucault, Derrida, Critical Theory and all its sub-versions: critical race theory, science studies--in fact, x-studies for any value of 'x.' Radical feminism. Gender pseudoscience. "De-colonialism." And at the core of most of it: Marx and Freud. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. Whatever there might be that's good in recent Continental philosophy, it's the intellectually shoddy and highly politicized stuff that spreads. Because it requires no actual thought and it's consistent with the irrationalist and leftist (but I repeat myself) sympathies of the faculty. It's the easiest thing in the world to make up a story about how something is secretly racist. It takes no actual knowledge and no actual thought. It's as easy as making up a story about your personal enemy's bad motives. Humans are very good at such bullshit. And that's basically what the infected areas of academia have been reduced to: sophomoric bullshit.

McCarthy: Hegseth Now Says He Didn't Order Drug Smugglers Who Survived Drone Strike Executed; It's A War Crime If He Did

This is something the righties don't want to talk about.
Personally, I'm ok with striking the drug boats...but it sounds like "law" says it's "bad"...so I guess we're not "supposed" to "do it"...
Seriously, of course: it its illegal, we shouldn't be doing it.
Now, executing survivors who are hors de combat...that's some Nazi/Commie/Japanese-Empire shit right there. Hegseth strikes me has being in no way fit for the job anyway. If the accusation that he sent in the Seals to kill the survivors is true, he's toast. Or he should be. Though Trump would probably pardon him.
However: it's pretty damn unlikely that anyone ordered such a strike--and that no one in the chain of command objected to the clearly illegal order.

Geraghty: Trump's Hernandez Pardon is "Crazy"

To me, this pardon sounds absolutely batshit crazy.

The Administration has Now Canceled or Delayed Three Major Economic Reports

The jobs report, the BLS report on inflation, and now a GDP estimate.

Is there any possible justification for this?

Because, prima facie, this seems outrageous.
