Militiamen Came To C'ville As Neutral First Amendment Protectors

Very interesting.
Also: still more evidence that Trump was right:
(a) There were good people on both sides
(b) There were bad people (i.e. people aiming at violence) on both sides.

Because wearing a symbol of treason really sends a message about defending the constitution?

You can understand, perhaps, that I am skeptical?

That's your evidence that he's a bad person?

It's evidence that "defending the constitution" is perhaps not the main reason he is there packing an AR.

Which militia member was wearing the Confederate flag? Looking through all the pictures, the few that mention a militia member in the caption - most are unrelated to the article - they all seem to be wearing basic green camo. I blame the wapo for a confusing photo montage.

Three things:
1. I got it wrong: the pic is of one of the rightist ralliers, not of a militia guy.
2. AR type weapons are NOT crowd control. Take quarterstaffs and handguns for self protection, if you must. This is pretty basic stuff.
3. Most significantly: these guys state explicitly they were NOT there on the side of the Nazis and white supremacists. Therefore your claim that Trump was right, and there were good people on both sides is not supported.

Great point, PM, and absolutely correct. (So long as you mean "not supported by the example of this particular guy". There were people there who weren't white supremacists.)
