   The sexes are male and female. 

   The sexes have always been male and female. 

   That's what sex is.

   Humans have other characteristics of course--they can be said to have genders, for example The genders are masculine and feminine (and it would be possible, though not necessary, to add androgynous as a third category.) Also relevant: man, woman, boy and girl are species/sex/age kinds. They are in no way constituted by gender. Men are adult male humans. Girls are juvenile female humans. Etc. There are masculine women and feminine men. That wouldn't be possible if man and woman were gender categories.

   This is another instance of one of the most notable features of contemporary American politics and culture: conservatives tend to accept the plain facts of the relevant situation and build policy on that foundation. Progressives start with their dogma--which becomes more outlandishly detached from reality by the day. They then either reject the idea of facts entirely, or pretend that the facts magically conform to their dogma. 

   But thinking so doesn't make it so. A man can want to be a woman or dress like a woman or feel like a woman or, perhaps, even believe himself to be a woman. But none of those things will change his sex. Ergo none of them will actually make him into an actual woman. We aren't able to actually change someone's sex even with our most up-to-date medical interventions. At best, we can simulate a change of sex.

   Transgender ideology--according to which your sex and/or gender (the distinction must be blurred, else the view would be even more ostentatiously nonsensical) is whatever you think or feel that it is--is just a particularly pure version of the progressive view that the facts conform themselves to our beliefs, wishes and dogmas.
