Yes, They Mean Literally Abolish The Police

The question at this point is: how stark, raving nuts does the extremely extreme progressive left have to get before the merely extreme progressive left stops defending them?

   Even Biden, who has let himself be pushed further (farther?) and further (farther?) left, has refused to adopt this madness. 

   Everybody realizes that there is exactly no chance whatsoever that the police abolition movement would be anything but a complete catastrophe, right?

   This is the craziest any major political faction has gone in my entire life.

   Also note: Tom Cotton arguing that we should use the military to stop violent rioting caused the NYT to take to its fainting couch. But arguing to eliminate the police and give the country over to anarchy and vigilantism...totally cool.
