Robert Francis O'Rourke Repeats Some Lies About Trump, Says He'd Confiscate MSRs (But Pay Us For 'Em, So It's, Like, Totally Cool...)

This guy strikes me as the most full-of-shit of the current Blue Team candidates. And that includes Marianne Williamson... His voice--which sounds weirdly phony to me, like he's making it artificially low or something--is like fingers on a blackboard.
(Which isn't to say that he's more full-of-shit than Trump is. Because that's a virtual impossibility. But I guess I've gotten somewhat used to DJT's crap.)
Again: I'm open to a discussion of more controls on modern sporting rifles and high-capacity mags--but I'm skeptical. And stricter rules for purchasing is one thing; a ban is, obviously, something else entirely. Here's something that's clear: any kind of confiscation--including confiscation with payment--would be a catastrophe. It could turn the "Cold Civil War" into the shooting kind.
He says he'd confiscate AR-15s and AK-47-type MSRs. But I'm sure he actually means all MSRs. There are apparently something like 16 million of the former two types alone in the U.S. Then there are all the other varieties of "assault rifles."
   Yeah...that plan's gonna go great...
And don't forget: the party that wants to eviscerate the Second Amendment isn't too wild about the First one, either. Gosh, what a coincidence... If they weren't pushing a kind of soft (and not-so-soft) totalitarianism generally, we might not need to be so alarmed about their desire to disarm us. But given that they are, we ought to be. IMO, anyway.
Do progressives honestly think that firearm confiscation has any chance of succeeding? If so, that's just one more respect in which they're living in a fantasy world.
None of which is to say that we oughtn't try to figure out something to do about mass shootings.
Though what percentage of MSRs are ever used to kill someone? The percentage must be miniscule.
