Trumpery: Beirut, Batflu

Why speculate about the explosion thusly? It's worse than unhelpful.

As for batflu numbers: meh, I don't care as much as I probably should. Trump's bullshitting about it doesn't even come close to balancing out the media's politicization/hysterification. He's got a decent record to run on in this respect. I do wish he'd stick closer to the facts. But Trump is Trump. As you may have noticed.

Also, such factchecks are typically the output of the lefty media, and not more--or not much more--objective than their normal output. And I've stopped keeping up with the Kung Flu propaganda like I was for awhile. So, hell, for all I know, the "fact"-check numbers may be false or spun.

More and more I think of the stories we got after a couple of years in Iraq, about how the people there basically live in a sea of rumors and falsehoods. They seem like loons until you realize that they have little access to reliable information about things outside their immediate environment. 

That's kind of us now. Though we can track down truth in many cases, we do it in every or even most cases. There's just not the time.
