NYC Riots "In Solidarity With Portland"

We are not in the midst of a reasonable disagreement between reasonable parties.

   I've seen that in American politics much of my life--honest disagreement over difficult issues.

At other times, one or both sides have become unreasonable. 

   What we're seeing now is, I believe, the clearest case of unreasonability I've seen in a lifetime of observing American politics. 

   This isn't really / mostly about George Floyd anymore, nor about police brutality. This is about a radical, antiliberal, antirational, anti-American and anti-Western political view, allied with antirationalist pseudophilosophy, mobilizing youthful emotion, gullibility, stupidity and ignorance...not to mention criminality...in order to overthrow as many of our social and political achievements as possible. If they can just get rid of Trump and install whoever will be replacing Joe Biden, that will be a major achievement...but it's not what they really aim at. They really aim at more--e.g. overthrowing Constitutional inconveniences like free speech and the right to keep and bear arms. They are very open about wanting to overthrow capitalism. They're well on their way to replacing our universities with leftist reeducation camps...that also maybe teach some vocational "skills." They openly declare that they seek to eliminate "whiteness." Though they are too ignorant of history to characterize it this way, they are some combination of neo-Jacobins and neo-Maoists. They've escalated to violence very quickly. If you think they're done escalating, you're fooling yourself. As others have noted: sometimes it's wisest to take people at their word. And some of their favorite words are "by any means necessary"...

   You really ought to watch this footage of some of NYC's Mostly Peaceful Proteststm. I'm not really sure what the compliant left that's going along with this is thinking. Is it ok because it's not your city/neighborhood? What?

   The reasonable center is, they say, always caught flat-footed by extremists. It never really believes what it sees and hears from them. That's an advantage that the extremists commonly exploit.
