DeVos Issues New Title IX Rules Protecting Free Speech, Due Process
Betsy DeVos alone may constitute sufficient reason to vote for Trump.
She's been just fantastic, and her tenure at Ed. shows the value of getting outsiders into government--she's Trumpian in that respect...though lacking the repulsive characterological defects.
There is something deeply important here; it gets at something horrifying about the contemporary left, especially the educational left. DeVos was derided when she was appointed because she has no education degrees. But, as I've said before, this is a strength, not a weakness. And that's the alarming thing. Ed schools are so steeped in hard-left, antirational, antiliberal postpostmodern nonsense that American education may be unfixable from the inside. DeVos has succeeded in fixing major parts of the Department of Education, in part, because she hasn't been indoctrinated with the nonsense that's been set loose in ed schools. The cult has very little chance of reforming itself. What few dissenters there seem to be are either rooted out by the inquisition and fired for something something hate something--gender crimethink or whatever--or they're terrified into keeping their heads down. These reforms have been brought about by a smart, pragmatic, level-headed outsider dedicated to nothing more outre than forcing schools to act in accordance with the Bill of Rights.
In general, that's the position we find ourselves in: the contemporary left is possessed by an antiliberal extremism that sees "hate" and prejudice as pervasive, quasi-Satanic enemies that must be extirpated from the human heart...and our Constitutional rights as antiquated ideas standing in the way of this remaking of man. Freedom, reason, and limited government are retrograde ideas that are to be overcome by this totalitarian hatred of hate. There's not a drop of actual liberalism left in those ideas.
