The media seems to be throttling back on the WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE motif...what, nearly a week after it stopped being even vaguely plausible?
Several new lines are vying to capture the progressive imagination. One is: Experts saved the day! The models were right, but expertise helped us avoid the high predictions! Another is: Trump's the one who pumped up the panic! He pushed inflated numbers so that he'd look good when we come in under them! That one replaced Trump is going to kill us all by telling us not to panic!
Then we got: Why isn't the administration waving a magic wand and fixing everything immediately??? Why do they expect the states to do anything at all????
Now they're floating: The states and the experts got together and saved us and Trump did nothing!
Donald Trump was explaining federalism to these people in one of the pressers the other day--Donald Trump.
Strange days indeed.
