"We're Being Gaslit": More On The Freestyle Jazz Of Progressive Accusations Of Racism

They just make this shit up, as you must realize by now.
This insanity gets right at the heart of a fair bit of generalized progressive PC insanity. Basically, if they can think up / make up / spin out / stretch for any vague, impressionistic interpretation on which x is racist* (i.e.: racist or any equivalent, e.g. "misogynistic")...and they don't like x...or they think they see an opportunity for scoring political points by calling x racist...then they'll do it.
Though...that makes it all sound too instrumentalistic. In fact, it's not that rational. The really creepy part is that this is actually how they think. If they see, e.g., some specific reference to some protected category--e.g a race--and some reference to something bad--e.g. a disease--there's a spark and they squeal racism*! With the thinly-suppressed glee of the religious fanatic who sees himself as simultaneously smiting the sinner and confirming his own status as anointed.
There's actually quite a lot to say about this aspect of PC/leftist lunacy...but I'll stick with this for now: this demonstrates one reason we have to fight the idea of "hate-speech"--and especially laws against it--to the death: because it is invariably associated with this sort of impressionistic, non-rule-governed idea of what constitutes it. Prohibitions against hate speech are never simply against e.g. using racial slurs. They're invariably about prohibiting locutions that the radical PC left finds politically inconvenient or impressionistically unpleasant/unPC. If you back such prohibitions, you're backing prohibitions against whatever almost-randomly-selected locution the PC left might happen to proclaim wrongthink next week. And that'd be crazy.
