Journalists Et Al. Do Not "Argue" That 'Wuhan Virus' Is Racist--They Merely Assert It
This is a paradigm of the kind of linguistic nonsense in which the left routinely engages.
It's a paradigm of political correctness--mere unprincipled, impressionistic reaction + routinization of thought-and-language policing. There are no arguments; there are merely declarations. Diktats.
Someone, somewhere is probably so foolish as to formulate an argument. But it'll be patently lame. I can take a stab at it:
Viruses are bad...so they shouldn't be linked to anyplace. Except, of course, America. If this were the Idaho virus it'd be a totally different matter.
Or: 'Wuhan virus' is vaguely linked to stereotypes about the Chinese being dirty or something. Which...makes no sense. Among other things, there's no such stereotype so far as I know.
Of course eating bats is gross...but that's rather a different matter...
Idiotic PC language policing should be resisted, e.g. by specifically using the terms we're irrationally told not to use.
Note, again, that while actual science-types are out trying to figure out the facts and save the world, the humanistic types that run the culture are mindlessly applying the idiotic, brainless PC/pomo template they learned in their women's studies classes at Brown: just sling around accusations of racism/*-ism if anything vaguely bad seems to be suggested about anybody who's not an evil straightwhiteAmericanmale.
