Pomo Interpretation, "Racism" and Wuhan Virus

One aspect of the problem, as I've said in the past, is the postmodern theory of interpretation. Since every interpretation is as good as any other--it's just as legitimate to interpret the Declaration of Independence as a discussion of the mating habits of voles or of peasant life in the late Middle Ages or vulcanism on Europa--well...everyone is free to knock him-, her- or xir -self out... And since postpostmodernism and leftist politics almost always go together, interpretation is almost always subordinated to these politics--after all, leftist politics is committed to the principle that everything is political...and postmodern theories of interpretation entail that politically-motivated interpretations are exactly as good as any other.
So we see what we see: pervasive, nutty, entirely irrational interpretations of every damn thing that make them out to be whatever the PC left wants them to be. Which is always: racist or one of the variants on racist (misogynist, "homophobic," "transphobic," etc.).
Since this shit isn't supported by rational argument, it relies over various dirty tricks to succeed. One is: shrieking "racist!" (etc.) at anyone who disagrees. Another is: flooding the zone by pumping out so much idiotic shit that reasonable people get tired of slapping it all down. Another is: the long march through the institutions. That is to say: taking over cultural salients like academia and journalism.
There's no reasoning with such people. There's nothing for it but to slap them down with grim determination.
