I'm not that old, but even I remember when Newsweek was a very good magazine. Its decline is mindblowing.

Ultimately, the behavior of WaPo and NYT are much more important press bellwethers for the slow grind into nakedly partisan media, but in simply absolute terms, Newsweek has taken the modern era worse than any top tier print media I know.

I subscribed to Newsweek in high school. It was a great news source back in those dark ages before the interwebs. I honestly didn't really even know it still existed until about two years ago when I started noticing it pumping out left-wing/PC BS semi-constantly.

How low the mighty have fallen.

Did you see who bought them out a few years ago, the head of a freaking Korean cult. How the mighty have fallen is an understatement.

It's also why I am really worried about the media, it becomes very dangerous when the industry faces competition stress (in this case in a losing war with the wider internet). The last time this happened was during the yellow journalism days. Most of the 20th Century was slightly blessed by the oligopoly of the major networks.
