So, I brought this point up to my most hyper-partisan Republican friend (more a racquetball buddy). First, I asked him what he thought about Palin, and he said he highly respected her and thought her to be a great choice due to her extremely proficient handling of Alaska. He said she didn't have any foreign policy experience, but how could we expect her to? Furthermore, foreign policy experience was asserted to not have been important to either Clinton or Carter, as they both allegedly had none before their presidencies.
I, not knowing much about political history, didn't say anything about these claims. Instead, I said "Well, talking about these issues in big-picture, grandiose ways, is an easy way to get off-track and jumbled up. So how about this: Palin has yet to hold even one press conference. Did you know that?"
"I did not. Does this matter?" was the answer.
"Well, I think it's unpatriotic to vote for someone who will not allow actual questions to be asked of them without having every single answer written out for them. It's important to know how candidates function mentally and the only real way to get any semblance of evidence regarding this aspect of a candidate is to subject them to a scenario in which it is probable that they will be asked questions for which they have not directly prepared. Do you agree?"
He did not. He started spouting off a jumbled, incoherent response which involved assertions such as "Palin is trying to put the focus on McCain here, because she's just the VP" and, upon being asked if a Democrat behaved in this manner, would he be as sympathetic, he said "Yes, I'd be happy 'cause they'd shut up", so I said "Ok" and went on my way.
Just thought I'd let you know so you could share in my suffering. Also thought I'd let you know to add to the evidence for you that yes, there are people who are, in fact, immune to logic.

Man, it's pretty bad when we're getting such dumbass drive-by comments that I have to actually delete them...but there you go.
Wow, I didn't even see it. For you to decide to delete it, my guess is that it was racist.
Awesome.
Not racist, just really, really stupid and annoying.
Quiet, you worms.
You must be drunk or hate George Washington or something Spencer.

It's really amazing how many conservatives seem to be really terrible at the table-turning test.
I mean, doesn't everybody's mom teach them this test at like the age of two?
