Bad News for Darth Cheney

Way buried in today's Post.

Best part, in defense of Libby:

"People have different memories," said lawyer Victoria Toensing, a Justice Department official in the Reagan administration."

So beautiful. This is the best lame-ass defense they can come up with? And so perfect coming from a former member of the most corrupt of recent administrations...and the "I can't recall" defense again, too! Such a blast from the past...

It's quite certain that Libby's going down if he tries to take this to trial. Fitzgerald's got evidence that shows that Libby had the info before he talked to any journalists, And he's got the testimony of Russert who Libby says gave him the information.

So, it's not, I didn't recall, it's gonna be Libby said, vs Russert said, Miller said, Cooper said, Libby's own notes said, other VP office officials said.

The "I don't recall" defense works when it's one or maybe two people, but from keeping up with this pretty closely, Libby is literally surrounded by evidence that he knowingly lied.
