Vince Bielski: A Global Industry Helps Fuel Scientific Fraud in the U.S.

Publishing has always been a dicey game--at least since I started doing it. I've known people who were like publishing wheeler-dealers. They knew all the tricks, and actually enjoyed the game. I, OTOH, am terrible at it. My favorite paper (favorite that I've written, that is) remains unpublished like 25 years after I wrote it.
The only slick publishing move I've ever pulled off was replacing the boring title of an oft-rejected paper with a clever title. (It was published (in a top-10 journal) the first time I sent it out with the new title...just in time for my tenure decision... (Of course that may not be the reason it was accepted...but it may well have been...))
Anyway...I find this all appalling...but I guess it shouldn't have been surprising...
