Robert Reich: The "Woke" Myth

'Woke' in scare quotes, no less...

It's all a myth, you see!

It never happened...

This is, perhaps, the next stop on the trajectory, as a leftist fad begins losing the fight.

We know these nodes on the trajectory re: x:

x is not happening --> x may be happening a little, but not significantly --> ok, x is happening, but it's a good thing... --> it is impossible to accomplish anything without x -->...

And then, if public opinion turns hard against x:

x is not happening, and, in fact, never happened after all...

Reich is, of course, full of shit.

   The problem is: politically correct Woketarian insanity has taken over the left--and the left controls the deep state and our other deep institutions. They take them over as they've taken over universities, and infused their insane, quasi-religious ideology into them. Trump is saying--or trying to say--enough!

   The goal is to force these institutions to de-politicize themselves and return to something approaching ideological neutrality.

   This the left absolutely cannot tolerate.

   First, of course, these institutions are themselves governmental institutions--and, as such, they have an obligation to maintain rough ideological neutrality.

   Second, the government is not the only threat. In this case the government proper is reacting against a quasi-religious ideology that has infected institutions that must remain at least largely apolitical. 

   Needless to say, Reich & co. would be making very different arguments if all our institutions had been taken over by, say, fundamentalist Christianity...

   Me, I'd be making the same arguments, as I oppose any ideological capture of our public institutions...
