Steven Tucker: Jurassic Poke; or: The Free-Associative, Pseudo-Literary Method of the Left is What Makes Them Stupid
In which Tucker examines a book that explains how Jurassic Park is all about "queers" and lesbians.
This is one of the things that made the left stupid: making up extremely stupid interpretations of, well, everything in order to pretend that everything is about the things the left loves--race, sex (male/female), sex (the act), capitalism, and, most of all, being gay.
This idiot's book is titled Clever Girl, and it's all about how dinosaurs and Jurassic Park are gay. Which, of course, they aren't. One "argument"--not really an argument at all, but really just making shit up--goes like this: when dinosaurs want to eat you, they open their mouths; mouths are very vaguely vagina-like, and have teeth; this shows (via the logical law Modus Abracadabra) that the West is all about fearing vaginas. Or somethinig.
You might think that this is an outlier, stupid-wise...but it's actually an only slightly-more-idiotic-than-average example of the kind of reasoning--if we can dignify it with that title--that took over the humanities and the left 40-odd years ago. It's the kind of making shit up reasoning that pervades much of recent Continental philosophy, feminism, gender whatever...and most of the humanities and qualitative social sciences. It's the death of thinking.
I can't even right any more about this shit it's so goddamned idiotic. It angers me beyond belief. It really is hard to believe that anyone is so stupid.
