The Ministry Of Wiki-Truth Re-writes The History Of GamerGate Yet Again; Blames It For The Capitol Riot
Not to say I told ya' so...but I told ya' so...
GamerGate was one of the relatively early signs that the left--and journalists--but I repeat myself--were taking a turn to the crazy.
Respectable types stampeded to the anti-GG side...because...well...gamers are mostly male, ergo (even back then) low-priority / low credibility. Respectables are lefties, and, to cover their tracks, the crooked "journalists"--especially Zoe Quinn--immediately started shrieking "sexual harassment!!!" When the respectables have to--or I should say: get an opportunity to--choose between (i) a bunch of nerdy, unattractive, low-status males and (ii) women and other lefties (and Brianna Wu...) claiming misogyny...well...it's not really a choice.
Wikipedia is a hard-left, progressive cesspool...so they've been lying about GG since just about the beginning...
And now they're asserting that GG--somehow--helped cause the Capitol riot...
Of course they can get away with such utter madness because (i) the progressive left can get away with anything and (ii) Wikipedia is 100% part of the progressive left and (iii) you can say anything derogatory you want about nerdy, low-status, unattractive males and (iv) you can say anything derogatory you want about Trump supporters. Ergo you get the near-total fabrication of the relevant Wikipedia entry.
Who's the craziest anti-GGer, Quinn or Wu? Well, Quinn is batshit crazy and a crook... But Wu's a dude pretending to be a girl. So...guess you've gotta go with Wu--but only because he's basically uncatchable even independently of his crazy GG lies.
I said this was all important at the time. But People mostly didn't care about it. It didn't seem consequential. But it was. It gave us an early glimpse of two important themes of the new progressive left: (i) a revival of political correctness / the subordination of evidence to leftist dogma, and (ii) the radical spinning of the evidence in favor of women (and pseudo-women) making claims of harassment--and against guys (again: especially unattractive, low-status nerds). People didn't care because they just didn't think it was important. But, even aside from everything else, it was a portent of things to come...
