COVID Variant Place-of-Discovery Names To Be Replaced By Greek Letters Because "Stigma"

Obviously they're making this move because their use of place-of-origin names gave the lie to their anti-Trump bullshit re: 'China virus.' The very fact that it took them so long to realize they'd been busted and to do something about it is telling. Place-of-discovery names were routinely used up until the press decided that 'China virus' was TEH RAZIZT!!!!11--mostly because Trump used it, but also because the left now loves China/the CCP. They all immediately went back to place-of-discovery names with respect to the variants. Oops! The left's terminological dictates are always (a) impressionistic and (b) intended to slant some substantive issue in their favor. At first, most people called it 'Wuhan virus,' and I still do. "Stigma" is just more lefty pseudoscientific, pseudo-expertise bullshit in which medical organizations, infested by leftists, issue non-medical leftist dictates for political reasons, illegitimately throwing the weight of their medical expertise behind non-medical ideological preferences. Resisting that by refusing to have our language dictated to us is actually an important way to fight back against the madness.
Anyway, if they really belied any of this "stigma" bullshit, they'd have jumped on the place-of-discovery names for variants much more quickly. Fact is, though, place-of-discovery designations are handy, memorable, and convey a little bit of information. Replacing them with Greek letter designations is just stupid. Also, of course: WHO and CDC have no authority over us. We have no significant reason to go long with it.
