Not to kick you when you're down nor any such thing, but I just want to plant this wee thought: 

Imagine being on the business end of such media mendacity basically all day every day. Imagine this being an extremely minor case...just one more in an avalanche of distortions and outright lies...big ones, small ones...carefully-calculated ones and capricious ones...vindictive ones and purely recreational ones... 

Imagine having to fight, every day, against a massive web of delusional, often empirically disprovable falsehoods, woven and sustained by a massive propaganda apparatus that "all the best people" believe to speak more or less ex cathedra. 

That's what it's like to be a non-progressive in the U.S. today.
