The Progressive Double Standard: Public Gatherings. Wow, That Was Fast
Remember how demonstrating for our Constitutional rights was a psychotic act of attempted mass murder? As was going to the beach. Or to Church. And unlockdowning...holy crap--that was an act of statewide "human sacrifice."
Rioting, however--and its attendant violence, murder, arson, looting, vandalism etc.--those quickly turned out to be not only permissible, but a net win because...because...[insert gibberish about "systematic racism" or whatever progressive claptrap comes to mind...I mean...nobody really thinks it matters which particular version of prog-gibberish you gibber, do they? You know the basic tune. Just riff on it.]
Oh, wait...and what progressive argument would be complete without: BECAUSE SCIENCE!
Why, oh why do "conservatives" insist on denying science at every point??
Usually the left seems to make at least some effort to keep its double standards at least thinly concealed. But I suppose they're riding so high--they so control the culture and are so immune from public criticism--that there's no need. If the refs have shown that they're going to get away with absolutely anything, and you think that losing is unacceptable...well, hell, of course you should press your advantage.
And one of the progressive left's biggest advantages is: there will always be a professional group that's willing to call whatever it does "science." Lysenkoism is a cornerstone of leftism: there is no real distinction between science and politics. The intellectual, like the personal, is political.
Question: do enough actual liberals remain in the center and among the Dems to put a stop to this madness? That's what happened to end the paleo-PC insanity of the early '90s.
Answer: We don't know...but it looks less likely by the day.
