Christopher Caldwell: The Age Of Entitlement: America Since The Sixties
Some slow bits I had no interest in--sort of pulse-of-the-culture: The '90s kind of stuff. Here's something about the cars. Here's something about the television shows. And so on.
But the political stuff is worth wading through those bits.
Unless you can't stand to have your last shred of idealism about liberalism crushed...in which case: don't read it.
I am now heartbroken and depressed about the Civil Rights Act of 1964, if you can believe that. "The law that ate the Constitution," as Helen Andrews calls it.
How did it come to this?
I used to be a good liberal boy.
Now I'm a doxastic outlaw, a fugitive from the thought police...
Hey, that brings to mind a catchy slogan: Defund the thought police!
