John Daniel Davidson: The Media Are Lying To You About Everything, Including The Riots

Obviously that's hyperbolic...but...TBH...it's so damn close to being true that I think it's worth saying that way. I trust no one actually believes that e.g. ESPN lies about scores, nor that the media lied to us about Trump winning the election, nor about the fact that riots actually took place. They don't tend to lie about the absolutely basic, absolutely indisputable facts. After that, however, any issue that impinges on leftist concerns is spun as fast as they think they can get away with.

   So, while obviously not intended to be actually true, Davidson's actual point is right: the relentless dishonesty of the media is actually kinda overwhelming. It's not so much the Big Lie strategy as it is the Many Lie strategy--flooding the cognitive zone. As Davidson notes, the lies are so numerous and pervasive that even discussing them individually is a bit misleading--it makes it seems as if they might be practically enumerable. 

   One thing Davidson gets wrong, IMO: he says that the Many Lies strategy is guaranteed to backfire. I'd say: perhaps the most astonishing and demoralizing thing of all is how easily they seem to be getting away with it. That there hasn't been a national backlash is horrifying. It's made me, for the first time in my life, worry that America may already be over. We don't even seem to be us anymore. We often seem to be Dead Nation Walking. Or woking. Or whatever. The leftist push to de-Americanize America has thus far succeeded beyond what I'd have imagined in my nightmares. I see few signs that it will fail. Progressive's biggest victory is managing to largely seize control of the parameters of public debate--i.e. control of Overton Window, control of what can and can't be discussed, of what's on and off the table. After that, it's just quibbling over details. Is America racist to its very core? Or eternally racist for all time? Or, perhaps, in all possible worlds? (We have both kinds of music...country and western...) The choice is yours! Bigot. 

   I don't see how they can be beaten while they so thoroughly control the parameters of public discussion.
