Dreher: I Don't Believe The Media
A lot of this is good.
Though: nobody who's paying attention believes the media, Rod.
Also: stop with the BS about objectivity being impossible. Objectivity is not only possible, we achieve it quite a lot. What you mean is: it becomes prohibitively difficult as soon as things start becoming controversial. "Objectivity is impossible" is something people say because they've heard it a lot. It's also something certain kinds of leftists say because they don't even try to be objective. They assert that it's impossible as a component of an excuse: it's not possible, so I can't be blamed for not even trying.
Douthat naively thinks that leftists aim at the truth. But their attitude about truth is similar to their attitude about objectivity. Their intellectual wing rejects truth too, and argues, inter alia: there is no truth, so we can't be blamed for subordinating it to dogma; it's dogma all the way down.
