Dreher: A Failure Of Leadership
This isn't entirely right by far. But the general point seems right to me: Trump's leadership during the height of the Wuhan pandemic was hardly stellar. It managed to be significantly better than the hysteria of the left, and significantly better than they tried to make it out to be...so, as usual, he distinguished himself mainly by not being as outright stupid and crazy as his opponents.
But now he seems to be--to all appearances--sitting in the panic room tweeting while D.C.--and much of the rest of the country--burns.
The left has gone completely insane, of course. And these are, basically, leftist riots. And the extreme danger posed by the American left should be our main focus right now. But it's baffling and infuriating that Trump can't even rise near enough to the occasion to give us some sign--in a greater-than-140-word format--that he is even paying attention. And is maybe in a little bit of control. Or that he has some kind of plan. Or something. As race riots led by a group of anarcho-communist Blackshirts rage across the country, we shouldn't have to wonder WTF the President is doing.
That in no way means that we should prefer the faction that actually backs the riots. But Trump seems to be doing his best to show us that he may not be all that much better than the anarchists and anarchy of the other side.
