"Diversity Statements": The Left's Next Totalitarian Power-Grab In Academia

As cracked as I find "safe spaces" and suchlike, they all pale in comparison to demanding that job-candidates write professions of leftist faith in order to be considered for faculty positions. This is utter madness.
MacDonald has her finger on this as usual. Einstein would not be considered for a position in the physics department at UCLA (nor some other schools) without a sufficiently effusive profession of his passion for "diversity" and of his past good works relevant thereto. To be clear: as bad as it would be, job candidates are not merely being forced to affirm that they are not racists. Rather, they are, being forced to cite evidence of their appropriate positive passion, and evidence of having actually participated in promoting politically correct goals. A sub-par candidate who professes his faith and good works will be considered; a stellar candidate who does not will not. Gone are the days when talent, intelligence and knowledge were sufficient to be considered for such jobs. Now the right kind of political attitudes are necessary conditions for such consideration.
This would be an outrage if it were merely being suggested as a possibility by the craziest, leftiest elements of academia. But this madness is actually being implemented. It's been said that some administrators at my own institution are pushing for this. Should that happen, there's a good chance I'll end up fired for flipping my shit. This is another nail in the coffin of the very idea of the university. Out telos is to unearth and transmit knowledge, or something like it. Our job is not to have savory attitudes, nor is it to actively promote leftist social goals. I view this nonsense more-or-less exactly as I would view a policy demanding that job candidates submit essays explaining how they came to accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior.
