I think this is very plausible, and I'm kind of surprised it's not mentioned more. I think the quality of single life is quite different now too, with the emerging dominance of online dating, especially in metro areas. It's not easy being single, and it's worse when you have to rely on basically online advertising to navigate it.
But i also think he buried a little nugget deep in the article: "And while married men with children are also more conservative than single ones, the difference is not as pronounced [cf as in women]." So the SJW stereotypes are true after all.
