Decolonizing The Meal

Yeah, that's astonishingly ignorant--it completely ignores the actual history of food, where the 'colonialism' was lead by the food rather than by the colonists. Successful crops spread incredibly quickly, even where there was no colonialism--just by trade. And as often as not, the local cuisine was adopted by the colonists--just look at Israeli food.

But I did think of an example of decolonized food: French fusion Vietnamese. The French got the boot, so the food left behind is by definition 'decolonized.'

Or how about Indian food adapted for the British market? India was a colony. Now there's significant migration the other direction, leading to another decolonial cuisine.

But somehow, I suspect this is not what the original assignment was aimed at...
