On NPR I heard some ex-Breitbarter (can't remember who) say that one of Bannon's MO's was to purposely provoke an hysterical reaction from the usual PC suspects, and then cleverly use it to his benefit.
And the PC idiots will always be happy to oblige and take the bait.
While the above may be true, it's a long way from Shapiro's claim: that Bannon turned BN from what was primarily a conservative news site to what is now primarily a Trump propaganda site. Occasional quick glances at their FP suggests that this is true.
For opposition conservative opinion, I usually go to Daniel Larson, who generally has interesting things to say. (though even NR is now in opposition.)
There are many sane conservatives IMO. David Frum, Bruce Bartlett, Andrew Bacevich, Andrew Sullivan, Daniel Larison, Reihan Salam, James Pethokoukis, Evan McMullin. That is just off the top of my head in about a minute.
The problem is that they effectively have nothing to do with the GOP. Which is no longer a conservative party. It is, as Mike Lofgren said, an apocalyptic doomsday cult.

Daniel Larson...forgot about that guy...thx.
All sane conservative references welcome.
'Larison', of course.
