Palin's Banned Books?

Did Darth Palin try to ban Brave New World, The Twelfth Night, Canterbury Tales, Catch-22, The Decameron, Lysistrata, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, Huck Finn, and Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, among many, many others?

[BIG FREAKIN' UPDATE:
av and Myca report below that (as I suspected), this list is bogus. However, the more important claim has apparently been confirmed by multiple sources: she did try to ban some books or others. (I suspected that was bogus, too...shows what I know...) It doesn't much matter which ones, but it'd be kind of interesting to see the real list.]

[Update: not going to list them all here, but can't resist also noting: Rousseau's Confessions, and Leaves of freakin' Grass.]

Well, this is the list provided by eddie_angel_emt, anyway.

My first thought is: this looks too much like a joke...or another rope-a-dope, so I'd take this with a grain of salt.

My second thought is: if this is for real, she left out 1984 and Fahrenheit 451...

But the real point here is, of course: if this is true--which, again, I doubt very seriously--this is an absolute disqualification from even being considered for any office with any power whatsoever.

And don't forget: she allegedly tried to fire the librarian when said librarian refused to remove the books. If that's true--which I also doubt--then she's doubly disqualified.

[Update: Um, Time reports that Palin did, in fact, ask the librarian how to ban books, and then asked about how to fire the librarian when she refused to comply. I'm speechless here...]

The list is most certainly bogus. That being said, when she finally agrees to talk to the press, this issue need not be glossed over, as it is a really important matter. If she is indeed guilty of the actions described in the Time piece, then we can chalk another one up to the moral bankruptcy of the (current) Republican Party. Sadly, even if she did favor banning books, I doubt it will sway many voters.

And on a similar note, the ideological comparison of the Democratic party to socialism/communism is becoming less and less relevant. When will the American public open their eyes and see the Republicans for who they really are - totalitarians disguised as practitioners of limited government?

Yeah, the list of these specific books has been debunked, but the censorship itself has not been. It's been confirmed from multiple sources.
