Palin Links Iraq to 9/11

Is it ignorance or dishonesty?

The world may never know.

The way they always seem to slip these things in there without explicitly stating something so obvious as "IRAQ HIT US WITH PLANEZ" makes me suspect that it's dishonesty. The way they always keep so under the radar about these claims, such as the way she worded hers:

"defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans." (talking about soldiers going to Iraq)

It's always so vague! It's so vague it's hard to know what she's talking about. I mean, that COULD be referring to the people killing our soldiers in Iraq since they're planning, carrying out, and rejoicing in the death of those thousands of Americans, but the statements seem carefully crafted to sound like allusions to 9/11 without having to actually be such allusions.

This all makes me feel like a conspiracy nut, but it happens so frequently and they're so unwilling to speak clearly regarding Iraq and 9/11 that it makes me think that Rove just sits them all down and says "Ok, look, one important thing to remember - any time you find yourself in a situation where you can say something about it that can also sound like an allusion to 9/11, do it that way."

I do not mean anything in the following to take away from the fact that Palin seems not only dangerously unqualified but even maliciously opportunistic and dishonest. That woman gives me the willies.

...but could it be possible that she's just referring to the currently operating al-Qaeda cells in Iraq? We know that they came to Iraq after we invaded, and that our troops have had to fight them since being there, right? So, isn't it at least sorta accurate to say that our troops who go over there now are fighting the 9/11 baddies? As long as there is no implication that they were there before we got there, too?

I dunno. Again, given the amount that she lies to us about the bridge to nowhere, I wouldn't put it past Palin to lie about Iraq, too. I just don't want my dislike of her to make me immediately read things she says in the worst possible light.

Yeah, Spener, I think I kinda pointed to that in my post.

She COULD be talking about the currently operational Al-Qaeda cells in Iraq. She COULD even be just talking about the basic run-of-the-mill bad guys in Iraq who are killing our troops.

However, my point was that these statements, combined with an unwillingness to talk about the real nature of the relationship between 9/11 and Iraq, make it seem like they are carefully crafted so that those who make them can keep on sounding like they're talking about 9/11 without technically doing so.

Oops, sorry for the misread of your third paragraph in your original post.

And you're probably right. The context of the rest of her public behavior makes it more likely than not that there is an insidious intent behind the seemingly innocuous language.

Sorry for making you have to repeat your point because of my inability to read.

lol Spencer. I <3 you. You keep it honest here with good questions and good points, but you are so willing to be wrong. That's so important here at Philosoraptor if you ask me. Most of the points made seem to be correct, but without someone really prodding to ensure that it stays that way, it's easy to get carried away and overlook good objections.

Man, it's like...if TVD was smart and willing to be wrong.. then he'd be half as good as you!

Keep up the good work, yo.
