Steven Tucker: "General Ignorance"
At Takimag--a very naughty/thoughtcrimey site, filled with notorious noticers like, well, Steve Sailer, Ann Coulter, and the great Steven Tucker...you have been warned...
Everybody wants the world to be good and nice, wants everybody to join hands, sing Kumbaya, buy the world a Coke, whatever. The thing is, there are some populations that we simply can't let in willy-nilly if we want The U.S., the UK, France, Canada and...[waves hand] you know...such other European and Europe-descended places as there might be...to survive. Do we want America, our liberal, constitutional republic, to survive? Or do we want it to slowly dissolve into South America North? Do we want Western Civilization to survive? Or do we want it to be replaced by a Western adjunct to the Islamosphere? Because that's the choice we have to make.
The left seems, as usual, to be roughly divided into less-radical, less-insane, more-centrist faction(s) and...the really, really radical leftist vanguard. Unfortunately, the latter has been in the driver's seat for at least the last decade. That vanguard--mostly Marxists of various kinds--wants the destruction of the West (the cultural reflection of capitalism). And it knows that mass migration of hostile immigrants is an efficient way to effect that. The useful idiots (or maybe we should say: clueless happy-talkers) on the less-radical left don't want the destruction of the West...but they are rather indifferent to it. To prefer Western liberal democracy would be bigoted, bigot...ethnocentric. Which is basically racist, of course. And racism is the Worst Thing There Is. So even absurdly false accusations of racism must be avoided at all cost. Better for liberalism and the West to fall, leaving mankind to the tender mercies of Russia and China--wacko right-wing authoritarianism and wacko left-wing totalitarianism--than to in any way suggest that we might be...Heaven forfend!...objectively right about something that someone else got wrong... Also, of course: Oh, those poor people! Why don't we just let them all in? That's not an argument, of course...but that's what really runs the show on the less-insanely-radical left.
Here, on so many other topics, it's very difficult to get progressives to even consider reasons. They have certain sentiments...and they have other sentiments--meta-sentiments--that represent the first-order sentiments as the only ones a good person can have. To even consider the possibility that some groups--other than white South Africans, of course...fuck those guys--might be hostile to our way of life...or that our way of life might be worth defending...well...I don't have to tell you what that is...
The rational position, so far as I can tell, is: we should maintain our more traditional demographic, letting in as citizens anyone from anywhere who gives us good reason to believe that they intend to maintain our political system and way of life. To others we say: wayward sisters, depart in peace. Most of the world is already yours. But this part you cannot have.
It's either something like that attitude, or it's the end of the West and liberal democracy. But anyone who thinks we can have our cake and eat it too--that is, maintain the glory of the West without admitting to ourselves that some people and some groups are inimical to our cultural, intellectual, moral and political projects...that's just ridiculous. I know that progressives want to burst into tears at the mere thought that they might have to advocate for any position that they think might even rhyme in some way with racism...but sorry. You're going to have to grow up and toughen up. So, for example, Muslims who accept secularism and the separation of church and state...welcome, brothers! But to those who want to implement Sharia law (something to which about 50% of American (!) Muslims seem amenable)...well...wayward sisters, depart in peace. Or, rather: stay where you are in peace.
We can either have Western liberalism (which includes moderate immigration with assimilation), or we can have mass, un- or semi-regulated immigration. We can't have both.
