Rob Henderson: How the Luxury Beliefs of an Educated Elite Harm Lower Classes and Erode Society

I suspect that the main presupposition of the title is true, though I've got doubts about some of the explanations.
I avoid such arguments because I fear that they play into the pathologies of the left. Specifically: the view that the only legitimate arguments against some x must show harm to "oppressed" (or less "empowered") groups.
The main objection to wacko "luxury beliefs" (marriage and family are outdated ideas, women have penises, DEI is good, etc.) is that they're wacko...but I'll bet they do also harm a lot of people outside the "elites," who tend to still conduct themselves according to established norms...and who can often afford not to do so if they choose. I know a lot of "elite" types who have kids before they marry, apparently without adverse consequences. The same decision is more likely to be disastrous for people living closer to the bone.
