Bullshit.

   I'm in favor of taking reasonable steps toward cleaner energy. Mainly: nuclear. But this bullshit apocalypticism has got to be smacked down hard. It's the left's M.O.: manufactured crisis --> no time to think! --> must immediately implement policies Dems want for independent reasons. 

   I kinda prefer that the Pubs say roughly the following:

Look: you're full of shit about this 10-year deadline. In fact, we hereby pledge to make sure we do NOT meet that deadline. So stop bunching up your petticoats. Cut the hysterics. Now: you want to deal with this like adults, let's dump the goddamn climate Lysenkoism and get some reliable science. It'll probably take ten years to reform climate science enough to make it reliable. Until we do, there are some no-regrets steps we can take: e.g. more nuclear. Let's focus on getting on a better long-term trajectory rather than making up crazy, immediate deadlines and loony policies to (fail to) meet them. WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE CARBON NEUTRAL BY 2035. Now that we've got that straight, let's formulate a reasonable set of goals. 

   As I've said before, if the Pubs did that, there's one thing we can predict, with absolute certainty, that will NOT happen: progressives will NOT say: well, that's too late. We've got a 10-year (9, actually) deadline, and if we don't make it we're doomed. So there's no sense trying. Which is just another way of saying: they don't believe their own hysterical predictions.
