Progressivism In Yet Another Nutshell: Metafilter And Weaponizing "DIversity"

Metafilter used to be pretty damn good. As I've said before, it used to be a place to find all different kinds of interesting stuff on the web. There'd be a link to twenty essays on steam locomotives...one with ten links to H. P. Lovecraft stories set in space...one with fifteen links to stories about unusual methods of fishing...one with an extended history of the Deccan Traps...it was great.

   Then the PC/SJWs took over, and now it's shit. 

   MeFi was the first place I ever encountered shrieking hordes of leftist lunatics insisting that SOME WOMEN HAVE PENISES EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT. I got a reputation there as a contrarian...imagine that... I'd get private messages from people thanking me for speaking up and complaining about how the place was becoming all leftist lunacy all the time. Eventually my comments started being deleted. Then I was issued what the meta-moderator called "a time out"...at which point I told him to stick it up his ass and never went back. 

   MeFi loves to pat itself on the back about what a great "community" it is, and how great the discussions are. Many of the discussions were great--if they had nothing to do with leftist politics or culture-war stuff. But that stuff was always a shitshow. But more and more posts were about leftist bullshit, and more and more SJWs started showing up in the other threads. Pretty quickly, MeFi came to suck. Last I saw, they still patted themselves on the back about their great discussions...but the discussions were kept the way they liked them by basically shouting down and kicking out all dissenters. 

   Anyway...here's progressivism in yet another nutshell--a decent essay on the weaponization of "diversity"...which actually pulls most of its important punches...and then (at last count) 75 comments shitting on it for failing to toe the leftist line. Because, you see, the MeFiers all know better than the Latino dude who actually lived his life and looked at his experiences honestly. But for progressives, there is only one explanation for any group differences...and you know what that is...

   It's really too bad. That place used to be really good. I haven't peeked in there in several years...but seems that now the worst of its worst old tendencies are now status quo.
