Whitmer: Idiot. Protesters: Idiots

Whitmer is, apparently, a power-mad idiot. And, of course, she goes to the progressive go-to argument: anyone who opposes me is a racist. Racist racist racist racist! Every thing is racist! Racist racist racist! Racist racist racist! 'Racist' is progressive for "REEEEEE I'VE LOST YET ANOTHER ARGUMENT REEEEEEE!!!!"
She claims there were swastikas. I'll bet there were. And they were on signs that were intended to call the powers that be--in this case, her--facist, not to promote fascism. She's undoubtedly pretending that anti-fascist signs were fascist. That's kinda fascist... So she's lying. I'd bet money on it. Confederate flags are not inherently racist, despite progressive insistence. I'm not wild about them, because they are too tied up with a largely racist cause--but they have a long history of symbolizing other things--e.g. and to wit: rebellion. I'd leave 'em at home were it me...especially if you're in Michigan...I mean WTF?...but to pretend that they always express racism is to ignore well-known facts about representation. And the nooses...lol. Everybody knows what those mean in this context, too. Maybe a bit much...but not racist. Progressives really have to get at least one more argument. Is two too many to manage?
Though: at least some of the protesters are idiots, too.
Do not--and I can't stress this enough, people--take your guns to a protest. If Pantifa is there, they'll be armed and it'll be a somewhat different story. But they weren't in this case. so here's the good advice: leave the ARs at home. I don't even understand why you'd bring them. ARs are bad PR! I just made that up!
And don't storm the state capitol.
And absolutely don't storm the state capitol with guns.
You really helped Whitmer out with that one.
You protest the lockdown by violating it, not by storming the capitol while waving around your ARs.
There are things that would justify storming the state capitol with ARs. But we aren't anywhere near there yet.
And don't forget, there are significant reasons to think that reopening at this point would be a mistake in many places. It's not like this is an open-and-shut case. Nobody even really knows what's going on. We're all drawing conclusions on the basis of insufficient evidence. Experts may know the answer, but, if so, laypeople can't tell that they know, especially when their possibly-completely-wrong conclusions are run through a pretty-much-completely unreliable media.
   Rather a mess.
As usual, I think the thing to do is to avoid the obviously stupid things--the unforced errors. After that, we're often stuck with judgment calls that can go either way. Which is where we're stuck now with respect to the reopening question. So, anyway: don't vote for Whitmer, and don't storm the state capitol with your ARs. After that, we'll just have to muddle through. That'd be my advice, anyway.
