Steven Pinker Says Something Silly About Nations and Viruses

Furthermore, the existence of nations allows the flourishing of some of them, e.g. the USA, Japan, South Korea, most of the European nations. Instead of everything being dragged toward the lowest common denominator.
Without nations, we're likely screwed. Globalism is another leftist utopian idea that might improve the world...but would probably wreck it. People in the first world would almost certainly be worse off without nations. And we're permitted to accept that as a reason in favor of them. Also, the entire world would probably be worse off without the first world, for the same reason most of us would be less-well-off if there were no billionaires.
Right?
