The current situation seems unsustainable to me. Soaring prices, bloated administrations, palatial campuses bursting with princely amenities, inflated grades, and political indoctrination and the attendant suppression of honest inquiry and discussion. And actually: bloated faculties. Newly-minted, politically non-neutral, activist pseudo-disciplines could be eliminated without loss. In fact, FTW. If the humanities and social sciences are devoted to becoming intellectually disreputable ideological crap, then why not shrink 'em?
