Vice: Why Straight Men Hate Astrology So Much

WARNING: DO NOT CLICK! VICE LINK. REPEAT: VICE LINK:  VICE LINK.

Man, I hate being right all the time.
Even as I have foretold, the resurgence of PC/pomo seems to be accompanied by a new "new age": magical bullshit is, apparently, trendy again. Or, since popomo et al. is already trendy: even more overtly magical bullshit.
Sexism and attitudes against sexual minorities have just been inverted by the far-ish left. Not all that long ago, if you'd have admitted that astrology is more of a chick thing (and, somehow...apparently a gay thing??), there would have been much shrieking. Because at least it would have been acknowledged that astrology is bullshit. Now, apparently, that bit is just skipped right over...and it's just peachy that lots of women are (apparently...but...who knows...because...Vice...) (and gay guys too? Really?) falling for magical, fantastical pseudoscience.
What really matters is that straight guys (GAH! amirite?) hate it. And also that they hate it because...wait for it....wait for it...wait for it....IT'S "GENDERED" !!!!!111111

That's right. They hate it because it's girly...and that's wrong. They don't hate it because it's total bullshit...which would probably be wrong too, since the left is currently deeply into bullshit... But, as you know: if there's a *-ist interpretation of anything non-left-approved persons do/think, then that's the true interpretation of their actions/thoughts.
This is probably Vice just making shit up for clicks again. But there's really not much doubt about this: all that old "new age" shit...girls were waaaay more into that than guys were. Chakras and crystals and out-of-body whatsis and past-life regression... Something about it definitely attracted more women than men. Weird. Wonder what's up with that?
Now...this might lead you to think: whelp, so much the worse for women. Guys have their characteristic flaws, girls have theirs...guess this must be another one of those latter....
But of course that would be WRONG, because, obvs, nothing about women is worse than anything about men. Because that is MISOGYNY M*THERF*CKER!!!!! So if women like magical bullshit more than men do, it's because men are misogynist or whatever. Not because they have some intellectual virtue like a lower tolerance for magical hogwash. Nope. That cannot be it.
All this stuff really does seem to be pretty similar to the views of the PC / progressive left. All that stuff is largely "magical thinking" (though I'm not wild about the term, really). They have their weird version of creationism--social creationism (aka "social constructionism"). They have their nutty conspiracy theories--"the patriarchy," "rape culture," "privilege"... They have their souls and chakras and whatnot--secret knowledge of secret selves with characteristics undetectable by mere science (e.g. "gender," "gender identity,"...true sex?). They've got their obscure, obscurantist lingo, their exoteric and esoteric doctrines...
The postpostmodern mishmash is the intellectual aspect of the thing; turn it 120 degrees to see political correctness / social justice / identity politics / progressivism, its political aspect; turn another 120 degrees to see the same general inclinations manifesting themselves as new-new-age magical pseudoscience.  I give you: the Grand Unified Theory Of What I Hate About The Left!
The right sucks, too, in case that matters to you, but, other than Trump, the right bores me right now.

"This is probably Vice just making shit up for clicks again."

I mean this is like a 75% possibility in my mind, but just dwell on it for a minute. There are all sorts of things you could make up for clicks. That Donald Trump takes 3 scoops of ice cream instead of two now, that the Clintons are reptilians. But they choose to make up a BS motive about why straight (viz normal) men don't like a BS pseudoscience, in an attempt to make them seem like wrongthinkers. And it's so easily disprovable, just ask some straight guys.

It's not just magical thinking at play, it's outright malevolence. They genuinely hate their outgroup and feel it's their responsibility as journalists to keep their readership hating too.

Seriously:
That's an interesting point.

This would be plain as day if it were an article about how, say, Jews don't like Christmas because they dislike the smell of fir trees or because ham isn't kosher. Equally absurd, and very telling in the implied intent from the choice of topic.

The fundamental moral error going on right now is quadrupling down on confronting completely hedged moral risks. People understand that attacking minorities is wrong; they really do. What some have forgotten is that majority members can't be treated the way minorities were, and there is no moral narrative around to grant them any dignity in a victimhood obsessed Left-leaning culture.

Honestly trying to flip the script and denigrate and disenfranchise (viz the progressive stack) majority or plurality viewpoints risks such a horrible backlash it's almost morally insane to me. But I don't control these things, and we're going to continue seeing the Left become more aggressively malicious towards majoritarian positions whether I like it or not.
