Oopsie: ABC Issues Bogus Flynn Story, Kicks Your IRA In The Nads

I didn't get up in arms about ABC's initial Flynn report because I just didn't believe it. Turns out, of course, that it was importantly wrong.
The more hysterical the news media get, the more I'm inclined to think that there's just no there there. They lean significantly left and they hate Trump. And they are dead set on bringing him down. So just about everything they say about him has to be taken with a grain of salt at the very least. I just don't think that the collusion charge is very plausible anymore. I suppose it never was very plausible.
I continue to think that obstruction is a different matter.
Though, honestly, at this point I'm not sure I can even root for getting Trump out. I continue to think that he's a dangerous, idiotic embarrassment to the office... But the actions of Le Resistance...it's become too much like an attempted coup at this point.
(But...my God...can't someone take his Twitter account away? The very fact that no one can get him to stop worries me. It's like he carries a gun specifically for the purpose of shooting himself in the ass two or three times per week.)

There are many needed qualifications for where I'm going. For one, I think the ABC story is an abomination, not least because it plays into Trump's hands. I also don't think anything I've seen up until now would qualify as an attempted coup. That said, and here I'm moving into the hypothetical realm, are coup's in principle illegitimate? Ultimately I think this comes down to a question of Trump's sanity. I, for one, have serious doubts about this--and of course I'm not alone in that. And I ultimately think it would be unfair to say that all questioning of his sanity boils down to so-called "TDS." Say, for the sake of argument, that he is insane. This would then be a clear cut 25th amendment case. That, however, would require republicans with spines, an all but extinct species. Long story short, what is the best option in a case where an insane person is in office, but the institutional means for removing him is blocked on account of political cowardice? If there were a time when a coup would be justified, wouldn't such a circumstance be it?

Yeah, I certainly didn't say or mean that it IS a coup...but that it's "too much like" one...whatever that means...

I don't think he's insane. Or if he is, it's a pretty common variety of insanity--he seems to be unable to resist believing what he wants to believe.

I don't think a guy like that has any business anywhere near the presidency, in case I haven't make that clear.

And I agree that there's little chance of the GOP removing him unless he actually starts frothing at the mouth.

As far as what's justified in the kind of case you describe...I've got the standard array of thoughts about it...including the overriding one: I can't even focus my mind on such a case very long.

Meanwhile, the ABC reporter has been suspended, and Fox continue to regard Hannity's constant stream of lies as a feature...

Yeah well Fox...waddaya gonna do?

Does Hannity still exist? I guess I saw some reference to him having become crazier than usual. I'm kind of afraid to go find out what he's been saying.

Hannity not only still exists: he and his friends have a great deal more influence on what people think than the Post, the Times and CNN combined. My main point, which I've made before, is that the 'Lamestream media' still has a fundamental commitment to accuracy that Trump at this point literally can't comprehend. Fox is quite often guilty of much worse inaccuracies of reporting than this; but to get fired from there you have to treat a woman so badly that you had to settle for thirty-two million dollars (that was a single action, brought by an individual against O'Reilly).

TDS still seems to me much less of a danger than TDSDS -- and, of course, than T.

I really don't get it when you say things like you're not sure you can root to get Trump out. I mean, retweeting anti-Muslim hate videos from a fringe group of UK racists? George W Bush is rooting to get Trump out. George Will is rooting to get Trump out. How hard can it be?
