Carolina 75 - Wofford 79

Wow that was uuuugly. Wofford just simply couldn't miss and we...just did not look good. This is the third team this year that's come out with the just foul the shit out of them defensive plan. MSU destroyed us, we barely eked out a win against Tennessee, and now we've lost to a team we were supposed to beat by 25 points. We don't seem to be able to hold our own in the paint against that strategy at this point, so that reduces us to outside shooting. And if those are falling, we're screwed. Add fifteen turnovers to that and...oof.
It's been really fun to watch our freshman centers come along...but, man...we may need them to pick up their already-impressive pace of improvement.

[Which is not to say that Wofford didn't play great and absolutely deserve that win, because they did. The thing that really killed us, I think, was how well Wofford got back on D, thus neutralizing our break and preventing us from running them into the ground. (Their coach was also thinking another move ahead by, so the announcers reported, drilling them hard on Carolina's secondary break.) If you don't hit your shots, that doesn't work so well, because you cede the rebound. But Wofford hit its shots, oh yes it did.]

What we need is to go back in time and convince Tony Bradley to stay. He's currently playing for the Salt Lake City Stars in the NBA G League. I'd say he left Carolina a bit too soon. He's sort of like Brandan Wright 2.0: Lanky, underclassman center fresh off a tournament run, gets drafted and is out of the league before he gets started.

The one-and-done has hurt college basketball in a number of ways.

Yeah, like I said, love our triune freshman center and it's fun to watch them develop...but if Bradley had stayed, we'd probably the favorite to win it all.

Ah well. Such is hoops.
