"5 Things Women Do That Secretly Annoy Men"

I dunno, man...I think we've known very different women.
I'm happy to admit differences where they exist...but I think a lot of the alleged differences are made up / exaggerated.
But I don't have a random sample, really.

Most of that sounds like sour grapes from an MGTOW loser to me...

Here's some more PC 'forbidden word' nonsense.

Obviously not PC...and also probably not true...but I'm certainly interesting in finding out what's actually afoot.

Um. I always felt PC applied to banning words no matter which side was doing the banning...

It's pretty widely reported. This gizmodo article observes that it really crimps zika virus studies..(How the hell can you study it without discussing fetuses????)

As for PC: WHAT OTHER TERM DO YOU USE FOR BANNING SPECIFIC WORDS WITH (SUPPOSED) POLITICAL CONNOTATIONS? Sorry for the all-caps, but it pisses me off when a term of art is applied selectively to one end of the political spectrum.

No, you see PC isn't just "WHAT OTHER TERM DO YOU USE FOR BANNING SPECIFIC WORDS WITH (SUPPOSED) POLITICAL CONNOTATIONS", it is that PLUS cultural and institutional power. Trump might be meddling with words that have political connotations, but his administration has no REAL institutional or cultural power. This is just political interference with an administrative body, nothing so nefarious as "PC".

Ha--that's damn funny, Anon. Nicely played...

Actually, PM, I AM being cantankerous about the term "political correctness." I DO think it should be reserved for the left...and I think there are reasons for that...but I don't really think they hold up in the end.

My fascinating arguments when I'm done grading.

Have you read/seen Inherit the Wind? Towns are STILL trying to ban (or avoid) discussion of evolution in classrooms. That's just one example, but I don't see how this is all that different. And certainly banning words in the CDC is a sign of both cultural and institutional power. Never mind the other cases, but "vulnerable" and "fetus" are enough to say there's something really serious going on. (I don't like the term "science-based" myself; I prefer "statistically sound.")

And one more thing...if you are going to ban the term "science-based" (as opposed to just encouraging the use of a more precise term), you'd damn well better ban the term "faith-based" too. The current Republican party is really big on that one.
