Aa- That just means the counter-protests aren't necessary, and only stand to incite more of these kinds of rallies.
I'm not quite sure I follow the "aren't necessary" part. The fact there are so few means there doesn't need to be a counter rally? I would both agree and disagree...but lean towards thinking counter protests are necessary to show how vastly outnumbered in this society the protestors are. As for inciting more of these kinds of rallies...if that's the price we pay than so be it.
Seems to me that peaceful counter-protests after the fact are a good way of expressing our collective commitment/belief about such things without making things worse.
(It should go without saying that I'm not interested in treating these guys with kid gloves, and I'm not a pacifist--but I'd rather try starving the beast of fuel first, and falling back on other options only if that fails.)
