Camille Paglia: On Trump, Democrats, Transgenderism, And Islamic Terror
Oh, Camille Paglia... Such a nut, but right about so much.
She says this, which I think is really wrong, toward the end:
"The categories 'trans-man' and 'trans-woman' are highly accurate and deserving of respect.'
Those aren't real categories, and the terms are highly inaccurate...and so, qua categories and terms, they don't deserve respect. Which, of course, doesn't mean that people who classify themselves that way and use such terms don't deserve respect--because every good person deserves respect. Even the philosophically confused. Which is a good thing for all of us, no doubt...
But anyway, Paglia is a wild man (as it were), and this is worth a read, says me.

I sort of understood Paglia's use of "trans-man" to mean a woman who takes the affect of a man, basically like herself. Which is a decent enough category in itself. It isn't really a reassignment of gender in that case, but I could be wrong. After all, she seems quite aware she is a woman, hence why she also identifies as a feminist. But I might not have read closely enough.
Regardless, it isn't the common use of the term, which makes the point irrelevant. If she uses the term in a way that is intellectually defensible, but she is the only one on earth to do so, then the term is still indefensible.
Yeah, I see the point, though. If it meant something like 'pseudo-man' or even maybe 'quasi-man'...I could see it.
This is off topic, but I think you might be interested regardless. Simply, I think it might be the platonic ideal of the moral perversion of SJWs, courtesy of HuffPo.
Holy crap...
Being a black woman in 21st-century America?
Just like being unjustly accused to 15 years hard labor in the DPRK...and then murdered instead.
This is your brain on political correctness.
Political correctness is too anodyne a word for that sort of political sentiment.
This is the sort of moral sub-cognition that, say, justifies locking someone up for 15 years hard labor for a likely falsified petty theft charge, then tortures someone into a vegetative state instead. I mean, that is what she was doing, the plight of intersectional minority "oppression" (for Norks, the proletariat) is so grave, any depravity is permissible (although she weasels into just making it seem sympathetic) in light of it.
