In Which I Say Something Positive About Trump

He's in the wire an' creatin' chaos.
I can't believe, for example, that a GOP candidate is actually standing on stage and saying to GOP audiences that Bush did not keep us safe. It's amazing that that's happening...but somehow it's also amazing that it upsets the audiences so. Do they really think that Bush did keep us safe? That 9/11 itself doesn't count somehow?  I mean, contra Trump, they can say "Bush kept us safe after 9/11 if they want...but that's never what they say..."
Anyway. It's gotta be good for the GOP to have someone in there--loony though he may be--saying this stuff.

I was just telling my wife the other day (and she was agreeing) that one fantastic thing about Trump is that he's up there consistently, clearly, and forcefully asserting the obvious fact that Iraq was a total, unmitigated and unwarranted disaster.

It's so refreshing to see some actual internal disagreement forced over that matter. The single most worrisome thing about the Republican party in my lifetime has been their frightening lockstep on some of the most serious wrongs they've committed, and Iraq has got to be the biggest issue there.

Yeah, I totally agree. I just want to say to the whole GOP: you have a choice. You can admit that Iraq was a disaster, or you can be delusional. That's it. Those are your options. You cannot have it both ways. One or the other. Which is it?

We're talking about humans, correct? (slam of republicans intended) Of course they can have it both ways. I know many scientists who turn off their logical thinking/ignore the scientific method when it comes to religion. The point being is that humans, even ones trained in logical/critical thinking can be notoriously uncritical depending on the topic.

Winston,

You really gotta start reading Bruce Bartlett's Twitter feed. It's one long exposition of the insanity of the modern GOP.
