No More Male Feminists!

Well, if you insist...
Here's my worn-out line on this: every movement has its kooks, and it's wrong to judge the whole movement on the basis of them. But in the case of feminism (a) the kooks are the vocal, influential vanguard of the movement; (b) egalitarian feminists rarely speak out against them; (c) the sane parts of feminism are now indistinguishable from ordinary liberalism. For these reasons I would no longer classify myself as a feminist.
Now, admittedly, much of this is because I'm in academia, where it's assumed to be obligatory to classify yourself as a feminist. So part of my not doing so is just my oppositional defiance disorder kicking up again. Or still. Whatever.

I am reminded of one of my favorite Bertrand Russell quotes here:

"All movements go too far."

Dude, these articles are hilarious. That one you link to, as you are aware, opens with:

"Can we all come to an agreement? No more male feminists. Ever. Men– stop calling yourselves feminists, and stop telling women how to do feminism. Stop acting like this movement needs you or your guidance.

Everyone else– stop letting men wear the feminist badge. If a man says he is a feminist, tell him no, he’s not allowed to claim the title."

And immediately follows that with:

"Feminism is about gender equality"

LOL!

LOOOOL!

As has been observed, but which I just gotta keep observing: they have reached that level of incoherence at which they become self-parody machines.

LC,

Indeed. It's like fecking law of humans or something. It's like we just. can't. help ourselves...

M,
Agreed. I consider myself to have a pretty fine-grained parody-detector...and I'm starting to wonder whether I'm not able to discriminate any more.
