How Many Mass Shootings Are There in the U.S.?

Mass shooting isn't a natural kind, so it's a bit tricky to figure out how to classify them.
I say this is a good, brief discussion.
The conception of mass shooting according to which there is more than one per day in the U.S. seems wrong to me.

Yes, I agree, a good summary. The term mass is the key. I believe Australia lists a mass murder as four or more dead. They haven't had one in over ten years since they put strict gun regulations into place. I'm sure that's just a coincidence (sad and weary sarcasm)

This distinguishes between"mass killings" and mass shootings". The former gives a better estimate of potential deaths. It's a useful distinction.
