We had a particularly nasty case of fraud a couple years ago, and a professor I really like (Dr Rockett) got caught up in it.
What I saw the allegations that had been made against Dr Rockett, I boggled, because I couldn't imagine anyone who had spent more than 5 minutes with him believing that.

To be clear, the accusations against Dr Rockett were all bogus. But of course it cost him time and money to deal with the issue.
