This reminds me of the Rodney King beating back in the 90s. I was in grad school and a retired police officer was in the program (interested in chemical forensics, not too surprising), and someone asked him about it after the news broke.
He called the cops/police who did it "Poorly trained idiots". That's a directly quote that I've remembered for 20-plus years.
